Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter is the co-owner of 100 Thieves and has been streaming on both Twitch and YouTube for years. Over the last few days, though, posts started showing up on social media saying she was retiring. One post blew up using a clip from an old stream where she joked about “touching grass” and doing more “real life stuff.”
Recently, she responded to speculations on X. She wrote, “Why does this have 23k likes? I’m not retiring! I’m still here yall LOL. I’m alive!” She followed that up with “I’m very lucky and grateful to do what I do… I’m happy doing it and much more.” Turns out the clip is from a stream she did back in late 2025. Six months ago. And she has no idea why someone sat on it that long before posting it.
Valkyrae Said She Does Not Understand Why The Person Saved The Clip For That Long

In a reply to a fan about retirement, Valkyrae said, “This one’s not tooooo bad, but it is a 6-month-old clip lol idk why he saved it for so long.” The person who uploaded it made it look like she was announcing something when she was really just talking about wanting to spend more time outside and away from her setup. That is it. There was no retirement announcement in the clip.

Streamers do not really retire either. They slow down, or the numbers drop off, but actually walking away from Twitch or YouTube completely is rare. Valkyrae is not even close to that. She is still streaming regularly and has not said anything about stopping.
Valkyrae Had A Problem With Twitch And Called Streaming On The Platform “Gross”

It is also worth remembering that Valkyrae has talked about leaving Twitch before. Different situation, though. Back in October, she said streaming on the platform felt “gross” and that she was thinking about going back to YouTube. She said, “I feel gross just being around it, being associated with it, being in the eyes of some crazy people. I’m not sure things are going to change for the better.”

But that was about Twitch and not about streaming. She had a problem with the platform itself, not with the job. As of now, she is still alive and still putting out content, and the retirement thing came from one person reposting a six-month-old clip that had nothing to do with quitting. That is the whole story.
