Resident Evil Requiem: How To Get The Care Center West Wing Keycard?

The West Wing Keycard is the first major key item players need in ‘Resident Evil Requiem.’ It unlocks the West Wing door in the Central Hall of the Rhodes Hill Care Center. Without it, Grace cannot progress through the facility or begin her search for the three Quartz pieces needed to escape.

Fortunately, it is impossible to miss. The keycard is obtained through a story cutscene early in Grace’s campaign. However, knowing exactly where to go can save time in a building full of locked doors and lurking infected. Here is how to find it and what to do once you have it.

After gaining control of Grace in the Care Center, head downstairs from the Central Hall into the Guard Office. This is located in the southwest corner of the ground floor. The Guard Office serves as the first safe room in this section, complete with a typewriter for saving and an item box for managing inventory.

Before leaving the Guard Office, grab the Antique Coin on the desk and the Green Herb on the floor. Then head through the connecting door into the Medication Room, which is a short walk west. There are no enemies in this area, so there is no need to have your weapon ready.

A cutscene will trigger when you enter the Medication Room. Grace meets a blind girl named Emily inside one of the glass chambers. After the scene ends, inspect the corpse of the dead researcher lying on the floor nearby. The West Wing Keycard is on his body. He will not reanimate, so take your time.

Head back upstairs to the Central Hall and use the keycard on the locked West Wing door. This opens up an entirely new section of the Care Center. Save at the Guard Office typewriter before heading through, as things get dangerous quickly on the other side.

The first room in the West Wing is the Kitchen, where Grace encounters the Chef. Armed with a cleaver, the massive, mutated zombie can be seen patrolling the area. You won’t be able to kill it with any early-game weapons, so it is better to let the Chef turn away. Then you simply push the metal cart to create a path to the exit door.

From there on, you need to go past the kitchen while exploring the Dining Room, Filing Room, and finally the upper floors of the West Wing. You can access the Bar & Lounge, Chairman’s Office, and the Gallery from here on. Climbing to the second floor leads to the first Puzzle Box and the Moon Quartz.

What Comes After The West Wing?

The West Wing eventually leads to the Parlor, which is locked behind the Unicorn Door, requiring a Red Jewel. Solving the Unicorn Trinket Box in the Chairman’s Office provides this gem. Inside the Parlor, Grace finds the East Wing Keycard on a severed hand beneath a table.

The Parlor also contains four lockers that accept Antique Coins in exchange for permanent upgrades. These include a Hip Pouch, Stabilizer, Steroids, and an Override Manual. Spending coins early on the Hip Pouch is recommended, as extra inventory space makes resource management far easier throughout ‘Resident Evil Requiem.’

Both keycards are essential to accessing every wing of the Care Center. Together, they allow Grace to find all three Quartz pieces and unlock the Central Door leading to the Courtyard. Missing either keycard means being unable to complete the campaign.
