‘GTA 6’ is scheduled to come out on November 19, 2026, and while Rockstar has shown two trailers so far, neither one of them said a single word about what is happening with ‘GTA Online’ going forward. Fans have been assuming that a new version of ‘GTA Online’ is coming with ‘GTA 6’, but Rockstar has not confirmed it, and neither has Take-Two Interactive, and that has left people guessing for months.
A former Call of Duty leaker named TheGhostOfHope now claims that a source with inside information of Rockstar’s plans says the studio is aiming to launch ‘GTA 6’ Online “within a month” of the main game. If that is true and ‘GTA 6’ does come out on November 19 then ‘GTA 6’ Online could be live before December 17, which would be the same kind of rollout Rockstar did with ‘GTA 5’ back in 2013.
Rockstar Is Targeting ‘GTA 6’ Online Release In December 2026

TheGhostOfHope said that someone with knowledge of what Rockstar is doing told him the studio wants ‘GTA 6’ Online out “within a month” of the base game, and that lines up with how Rockstar handled it last time.
The original ‘GTA Online’ came out on October 1, 2013, which was less than three weeks after ‘GTA 5’ dropped on PS3 and Xbox 360, and thirteen years later, both games are still running and still getting updates. The fact that ‘GTA Online’ from 2013 is still alive in 2026 is wild on its own, and it is still getting big content drops too.

The most recent update to ‘GTA Online’ is called A Safehouse in the Hills, and it brought back Michael De Santa, added purchasable mansions and new missions, and new vehicles. That is the kind of support Rockstar has been giving the game, even with ‘GTA 6’ right around the corner.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said he has “every reason to believe” Rockstar will keep supporting the current ‘GTA Online’ after ‘GTA 6’ comes out because there is a “great community that loves it, that stays engaged” and that makes it sound like the old ‘GTA Online’ and the new one could end up running at the same time which has never happened before in the series.
Strauss Zelnick Has Been Trying To Reassure Fans After Multiple Delays Pushed ‘GTA 6’ From Fall 2025 To November 2026

‘GTA 6’ was originally supposed to come out in Fall 2025 but got delayed more than once and is now sitting at November 19, 2026. Zelnick went out of his way during a recent quarterly earnings call to lock the date in, and he even said that marketing for ‘GTA 6’ will start in the summer, which is not something Take-Two normally talks about publicly.
The fact that the CEO of one of the biggest gaming companies came out and told people when the ads are starting just to calm everyone down about the release date says a lot about how frustrated fans have been with the delays.
A former Rockstar developer also recently said that ‘GTA 6’ might have taken this long because Rockstar rebuilt the Rage Engine from the ground up, and if that is actually what happened, then it would explain why this game has been in development longer than anything else in the series.

But none of that is confirmed, and Rockstar has not said a word about ‘GTA 6’ Online either, so everything people know right now is coming from leakers and insiders, and the only thing fans can do is wait for Rockstar to finally start talking.
