Fortnite Chapter 7: Are OG Weapons Worth Using?

‘Fortnite’ Chapter 7 features the crossover with the beloved ‘Back to the Future‘ franchise. With this crossover, Epic Games also added the iconic DeLorean to the map, containing the OG weapons. These weapons are some of the most beloved by the community.

While the nostalgia hit with the OG weapons is real, many players find them lagging behind the newer load of weapons in Chapter 7. If you’re planning on trading your current loadout for a trip down memory lane, you need to know which of these “old timers” are actually worth the slot.

Hunting Rifle was one of the the deadly weapon when it was added in 2018 and still holds the title. Currently, it is the only weapon in the entire game that can one-shot enemies in Zero Build. It easily ignores overshield with a whopping 250 headshot damage.

After devs added the feature allowing players to aim down sights while airborne in Chapter 7, the Hunting Rifle best friend for aggressive players. “Fizz-shocking” mechanic combined with Hunting Rifle is a menace move that players are trying in the lobby. Hitting a 250-damage headshot before you even hit the ground is a top-tier play that most players aren’t prepared for. Even though it takes a lot of skill to master the bullet drop without a scope, if you master this, you can cake walk the whole island.

In addition to this, the OG Pump Shotgun was also a fan-favorite weapon that fans waited long to use once again. However, this weapon has been outclassed by the new Iron Shotgun. For context, a Gold OG Pump deals 185 headshot damage. This number is exactly the same as a Blue Iron Pump. Thus, if you find an Iron Pump at Purple or Gold rarity, it will outshine the OG Pump Shotgun by a big margin.

Additionally, the Iron Pump also has better ADS accuracy and a tighter pellet spread at range. This makes Iron Pump much more consistent than OG Pump Shotgun and more reliable when taking close to medium range duels. The OG Pump is good in close-range, but in Zero Build mode, the range and accuracy of the modern Iron Pump blow it out of the water.

The Minigun Is Surprisingly Viable For Team Play In ‘Fortnite’ Chapter 7

While labelled as a troll weapon, the Minigun has found some use cases in the current meta of ‘Fortnite’ Chapter 7. Minigun can easily shred enemy vehicles’ health and can destroy enemy bunkers in a blink. Using this weapon in Solos can be risky and tricky, thanks to ducking while revving it up. However, in Squads, it is a completely different ball game.

Now, for other OG Weapons, SCAR and the Compact SMG, both have been outshone by the Flex SMG or the Hollow Rush. Both of these weapon has better spray than OGs. The SCAR, specifically, has been outdated for years and has no place in the high-speed playstyle of Chapter 7.

So, in conclusion, look out for the Hunting Rifle and the minigun if you find a DeLorean. You can make it work for OG Pump. However, players can easily skip other OG weapons, be it Six Shooter ort he Infantry Rifle. These all have either became absolete or have better counterparts that are just too good to skip to add these weapons to the loadout. Still, if you want the feel of old ‘Fortnite’ times to experience the nostalgia, pick any weapon you like and dominate the map.
