The L’Arca animal minigame is one of the quirkier side activities in ‘Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined.‘ After completing the L’Arca storyline in the past and returning to the present-day version of the village, players will find the townsfolk seemingly turned back into animals.
Thankfully, there is no new curse to break. The villagers are simply dressed up for La Festa, a festival celebrating the town’s salvation. But there is a guessing game tucked inside the celebration that rewards a valuable early-game accessory.
How To Start The L’Arca Animal Minigame?
Players can join the activity after finishing the L’Arca scenario in the past, and Ruff joins the party. Travel back to L’Arca in the present by ship, since the Fast Travel option will be greyed out for this visit.
Upon arriving, head into the Mayor’s House and speak with him. He will explain the festival and suggest checking the drawers in his home for animal costumes. Interact with the end table near the maid to dress up the party.

Once in costume, exit the house and head to the Main Square. Speak with the man standing near the center to begin the minigame. He will task the party with a simple but tricky game of deduction.
How To Pick The Right Animals In The Minigame?
Out of six NPCs lined up in animal costumes, players need to correctly identify which three are actually warriors in disguise. Picking the wrong one resets the whole game, so guessing blindly can get frustrating fast.
The three correct picks in any order are the cow on the far left side, the dog on the right side, and the horse. The tricky part is the two cows standing next to each other, which look nearly identical. Always pick the one on the left.
No in-game clues are pointing to the right answers. This puzzle has stumped players since the original ‘Dragon Quest 7,‘ and the Reimagined version keeps it just as cryptic. Players can also use the chat input near the top-right of the screen for subtle hints, but following the answers above skips the trial and error entirely.
Claim The Ruby Of Protection In ‘Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined’
After correctly identifying all three warriors, the Mayor will appear and congratulate the party, and you will receive the Ruby of Protection. It is a pretty good accessory at this point in the game, with an addition of +20 to your defense once equipped.
For characters like Ruff or Maribel, this is pretty good to have, as both struggle with low defense stats. Once you try higher difficulty settings, having this makes a small but noticeable difference to your gameplay. Before leaving L’Arca, make sure to grab the Yellow Tablet Fragment from the Mayor’s House. It is a key item needed to progress the main story to the next region.
