In October 2025, Supercell released a massive update to ‘Clash of Clans,’ which includes big changes to multiplayer battles. The update overhauled the complete league system and introduced a new one with Ranked Battles.
Battles will now take place in one of two modes: the Battle Mode, where players can freely attack other players without impacting their trophies, and Ranked Battles, a limited attack mode that will take place every week and qualify players for the League by their performance. Every Town Hall level also has a League Floor, so everyone can be matched up at the same level so that fans can’t drop below that rank.
‘Clash of Clans’ October 2025 Update: Ranked Battles And Battle Mode

Players can engage in traditional battles from Town Hall 2 onwards without the concern of losing trophies. The new attacks focus on casual play, and will let players farm resources, try out army compositions, and participate in battles without worrying about going up or down in rank.
Once players upgrade to Town Hall 7, they can indulge in Ranked Battles. This is the new competitively-ranked ladder system. Ranked Battles have a tournament system that spans over a week. Players will have limited attacks per week.
Players are clubbed with 100 players, where they compete for league progression. The top 10 players from each tournament would be promoted to the next league. Rank 11 onwards up to 90 will stay in the same league, while players below rank 90 will be demoted. Players will only face players within their Town Hall range, so it is a fairer competition and better matchmaking.
The big goal is to progress through the leagues and compete in the Legend League. Depending on the league, players may be defending and attacking against some of the best players in the game on a daily basis.
How The New Ranked Battle System Works

In Ranked Battles, individual players are assigned to a League Tier. Each League has 3 tiers, meaning players will start at the lowest section (such as Skeleton 1) and go up (to Skeleton 3) until they enter into the next larger League (Barbarian, Archer, etc.).
For each League, there is a limited number of battles per week, so more than any previous time, players’ performance will matter. These are the number of ranked battles they get each week, depending on what league they are in:
| League Tier | Battles Per Week |
|---|---|
| Skeleton (1–3) | 6 |
| Barbarian (4–6) | 8 |
| Archer (7–9) | 8 |
| Wizard (10–12) | 8 |
| Valkyrie (13–15) | 10 |
| Witch (16–18) | 10 |
| Golem (19–21) | 12 |
| P.E.K.K.A (22–24) | 14 |
| Electro Titan (25–27) | 18 |
| Dragon (28–30) | 24 |
| Electro Dragon (31–33) | 30 |
| Legend League | 8 battles per day (56 per week) |
Players earn trophies for each successful attack as they progress through the week or season. In addition to this, players do not lose trophies if they are attacked in Ranked Mode, but rather gain trophies according to their defense performance.
To make things more competitive, the Electro Dragon league and the Legend league have battle modifiers that give players another layer of challenge. It is similar to the hard mode settings but has lower penalties.
League Floors Explained

One of the most significant changes introduced in the October 2025 update is the addition of League Floors. League Floors establish a minimum rank limit for players, which is determined by their Town Hall level, to prohibit players from being demoted below a particular rank.
League Floors will protect lower-level Town Hall players from having to battle opponents who have a disproportionate advantage, while still giving all players a baseline to compete.
Here’s the full list of Town Halls and League Floors:
| Town Hall Level | League Floor |
|---|---|
| Town Hall 7 | Skeleton 1 |
| Town Hall 8 | Skeleton 2 |
| Town Hall 9 | Skeleton 3 |
| Town Hall 10 | Barbarian 4 |
| Town Hall 11 | Barbarian 6 |
| Town Hall 12 | Archer 8 |
| Town Hall 13 | Wizard 11 |
| Town Hall 14 | Valkyrie 14 |
| Town Hall 15 | Witch 17 |
| Town Hall 16 | Golem 21 |
| Town Hall 17 | Electro Titan 25 |
This means that a Town Hall 10 player cannot drop below Barbarian 4 regardless of how poorly they do. It is a very solid move for the sake of balance, especially for mid-level players who are still working on their defenses or army compositions.
The ‘Clash of Clans’ October 2025 update completely changes the foundation of multiplayer with its new League Floors and Ranked Battles. By having a ladder for competitive players and a laid-back mode for casual players, Supercell has created a balance between fun and challenge. If players are farming Elixir or gunning for the top of the Legend League, then they can always find a battle worth battling.
