‘Fortnite’ Chapter 7 Season 2 has been built around the clash between the Ice King and the Foundation, and the loot pool this time around reflects that with boss-exclusive weapons scattered across the map. The Ice King’s Gauntlets are one of those drops that actually change how you approach a fight instead of just being another gun in the rotation.
Getting them is not as simple as opening a chest though. The Gauntlets are a boss drop which means you have to track down the Ice King at his fortress and take him out before anyone else on the server does. Here is where to find them and what to expect once you pick them up.
The Ice King Spawns At Frigid Fortress

The Ice King’s Gauntlets can only be found at Frigid Fortress, which is marked on the map with a skull and crown icon. The Ice King himself is the boss there, and he is not alone. Lady Windfrost follows him around and throws Chug Splashes at him during the fight, which means she is actively healing him while you are trying to burn through his health bar.
The move here is to take her out first before focusing on the Ice King, because if you ignore her, the fight drags on way longer than it needs to, and you are exposed to other players the entire time.
The Ice King uses his own gauntlets during the fight, and they deal splash damage, so standing out in the open is a bad idea. Stick to the cover inside the fortress and use high DPS weapons like SMGs to melt his health as quickly as possible.

Once he goes down, he drops the Ice King’s Gauntlets along with a Chug Jug, which is a solid bonus considering you will probably need the healing after that fight. Keep in mind this is a popular landing spot early in matches, so you will likely be fighting other players at the same time, which makes the whole thing more chaotic than a standard boss encounter.
Ice King’s Gauntlet Hit Hard With Splash Damage

The Ice King’s Gauntlets come with two attacks. The primary fire is an ice projectile that deals 50 damage on impact and has a generous splash radius, so you do not need to land direct hits to get value out of it. You can hit players behind walls or punish people holding builds from angles they would not expect.
The secondary fire drops a large field of snow on the ground that ticks for 5 damage every second, with a 15-second cooldown between uses, which is useful for forcing players out of a position or zoning off an area during a fight.
The catch is that they only have 100 charges, and once those are gone, the item disappears entirely. There is no reloading them. On paper, 100 shots at 50 damage each means the weapon can deal 5,000 total damage, which is absurd, but in practice, you are not hitting every shot cleanly, so the real output will be lower.

They also never need to be reloaded between shots, which keeps the pressure constant in a fight. If you can survive the boss encounter and the chaos around Frigid Fortress, the Gauntlets are one of the stronger pickups this season, but they are temporary, so use them aggressively while you have them.
