Rockstar Games Quietly Updates GTA 6 Map With Some Of The Biggest Changes Since The First Trailer

The ‘GTA 6’ map just got a round of changes, and the most obvious one is that the panhandle is gone. A lot of people saw that and immediately assumed the map got smaller, but that is not what happened. The overall scale stayed the same. Bohemia and Yorktown got shifted slightly to the west, while Mount Caliga and St. Joseph stayed exactly where they were, so nothing was actually deleted. Rockstar just reorganized how everything fits together.

On top of the panhandle removal, there are a bunch of smaller changes scattered across the map. New housing in multiple areas, a police department in Vice Beach, road tweaks, and a whole new mountain up north. None of them are huge by themselves, but the map looks noticeably different from the last version people were working with.

The Panhandle Was Only Ever Based On Two Pieces Of Evidence From The 2022 Leaks

The panhandle being on the map in the first place goes back to the September 2022 leaks, where only two things supported it. The rear shape of Florida and some traffic signs that showed up in the leaked footage. But once Trailer 1 dropped, it kind of fell apart because the interstate shields were redesigned, and none of the road sign styles matched the original map shape.

So the leak signs were almost certainly placeholders. Meanwhile, a scarlet highway near Port Gailhorn is now slightly less straight than before, which is a small thing, but it makes the road feel less like it was drawn with a ruler. And right in that same area, Rockstar added residential housing near the Delight Club, which is one of the two confirmed clubs in ‘GTA 6’ alongside the Jack of Hearts.

Further south, Watson Bay and Grass Rivers got an additional housing cluster that takes inspiration from the Ketarchy. And the wetlands surrounding that area are going to play a completely different role compared to Vice City’s streets. Wildlife, underwater areas, and swamps.

That is nothing like driving around the city, and Rockstar seems to be putting serious work into making sure it does not feel empty down there. In Ambrosia, new sugar fields were added near Lollipop Ridge, close to the water tower that showed up on the official ‘GTA 6’ website.

Vice Beach Now Has A Fully Modeled Police Department And A New Mountain Up North

But the big one here is Vice Beach. There is now a fully modeled Vice Beach Police Department sitting in the area. ‘GTA 6’ is going to have multiple law enforcement agencies. Vice City Police, County Sheriffs, and State Troopers. That is three separate agencies, which means wanted levels and police chases could work very differently depending on where you are on the map.

And then there is the mountain. A new mountain was expanded north of Mount Waffles, tying into Mount Cala National Park. The terrain up there looks like it takes inspiration from North Carolina, which is interesting because Florida is flat. Like really flat.

So Rockstar is clearly pushing the map into more vertical territory, especially in the northern regions that nobody really knows much about yet. As of now, nobody knows exactly how far north the map extends or what else Rockstar has been working on up there. But it keeps looking less and less like just a Florida recreation. Swamps in the south, mountains in the north. That does not sound like one state anymore.
