Epic Games announced that ‘Fortnite’ is reducing the number of V-Bucks in every purchasable pack and making changes to how much players can earn back from the Battle Pass. The changes go live on March 19 when Chapter 7 Season 2 launches. Instead of raising the dollar price of V-Bucks packs, Epic went with lowering the amount of V-Bucks players get for the same money.
The bigger problem for most players is what is happening with the Battle Pass. The pass itself is dropping from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800, which looks cheaper on paper, but because the $8.99 pack also dropped to 800 V-Bucks, the actual dollar cost is the same. Players used to earn back up to 1,500 V-Bucks from the pass, and now they will only get 800. That means for the first time ever, the Battle Pass just breaks even, and players cannot make extra V-Bucks off of it.
‘Fortnite’ Is Cutting V-Bucks In Every Pack

The $8.99 pack is going from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks on March 19. The $22.99 pack drops from 2,800 to 2,400. The $36.99 pack goes from 5,000 to 4,500, and the $89.99 pack goes from 13,500 to 12,500. None of the dollar prices is changing. Players are just getting less for the same amount of money across the board.
The “exact amount” pack got hit the worst. It used to let players buy 50 V-Bucks for about $0.50, which made it popular for people who needed a small top-up to afford a specific item in the shop. That price has nearly doubled to $0.99 for 50 V-Bucks.

The option was only added to ‘Fortnite’ in September 2025 and players liked it because it meant they did not have to buy full packs just to grab one item. However, at the new price it is hard to justify using it anymore.
‘Fortnite’ Crew Members Are Also Losing V-Bucks

The other passes in ‘Fortnite’ are being adjusted too. The OG Pass is dropping from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800, and the Music Pass and LEGO Pass are going from 1,400 to 1,200 V-Bucks. Fortnite Crew subscribers are getting hit as well because the monthly V-Bucks payout is going from 1,000 to 800. That is 200 fewer V-Bucks every single month, which adds up fast over the course of a subscription.
This is not the first time Epic has pulled something like this. Back in 2023, Save the World Founders lost access to the Daily Login Rewards system, which gave them free V-Bucks just for opening the game.

Epic tried to make up for it with extra Daily Quest Rewards, but players were not happy about it then either. As of now, the reaction to the March 19 changes is going about the same way, and a lot of the community feels like V-Bucks are getting harder to earn and more expensive to buy at the same time.
