One of the most thrilling side things to participate in and experience within the ‘Yakuza‘ franchise is the Coliseum, which has continued this trend in ‘Yakuza Kiwami 3.‘ The Coliseum is the place to be if you’re interested in putting Kazuma Kiryu through his paces against rival combatants with the chance to earn rewards.
However, the Coliseum cannot be accessed immediately. It is tied to the overall story progression of ‘Yakuza Kiwami 3,‘ thus many players do not realize when it has opened up for use. Here’s everything you should know about the unlocking of the Coliseum and how to engage in combat within it.
When Does the Coliseum Unlock in ‘Yakuza Kiwami 3’?
At the beginning of the game, you won’t be able to get into the Coliseum. You can unlock it in the eighth chapter (Conspirators). However, there will already have been preparation done prior to this point.
As you continue through the main storyline, from chapter seven (Mad Dog) you will have to go to Purgatory (underground area of Kamurocho) and there will be an entrance to Purgatory behind the public bathrooms in West Park.
Once you have reached Purgatory then you can head into the Coliseum and fight Goro Majima in a mandatory plot fight and this is your first introduction to the arena environment.

After defeating Majima, then you will leave the Coliseum area and walk through the middle portion of Purgatory; as you continue to walk around, then Nishida will approach you and inform you that the Coliseum is open for you to participate in. At this point, you now have the ability to access the Coliseum permanently.
How to Enter and Fight in the Coliseum
You can easily enter the Coliseum once you’ve unlocked it. To get there, all you need to do is go back to Purgatory through the West Park’s restroom entrance. Once inside Purgatory, head to the West Building, where the reception desk for the Coliseum is located. Speak with the receptionist, who will show you what kind of battles you can fight in.
Based on your progress and qualifications, you will be able to choose from multiple types of battles, which have different rules, opponent groups, and reward structures. Some battles will simply be a regular one-on-one battle, while other battles will have special conditions.

Once you have selected a battle, you will enter the Coliseum and fight the battle against your opponent. If you win, you will receive rewards that can include items and other valuable things. If you continue to win battles, you will have access to more fight types and more difficult opponents.
The Coliseum was created to be an optional challenge, which means that once you unlock it, you can go back and participate whenever you would like. The Coliseum is the perfect place to prove that you are a great fighter and to challenge yourself if you feel like you have good fighting skills and are looking for tougher fights outside of the main story.
