Fans of ‘ARC Raiders‘ were anxiously waiting for the first significant update, and Embark Studios delivered that with the Stella Montis map. However, unlocking this new destination will require more than just downloading a patch.
Players will have to participate in an event launched by the community, dubbed Breaking New Ground, to gain access to the new location. So, here is what you need to know in order to unlock Stella Montis and what to expect along the way.
The Breaking New Ground Community Event In ‘ARC Raiders’ Explained
Stella Montis is an alpine base, which consists of an abandoned yet preserved facility, unlike the other scattered ruins around the game world. In this map, you will find materials from the Pre-Collapse event called Exodus.
In addition, the Breaking New Ground community event will take place until December 21, 2025, providing players with enough time to contribute materials, earn rewards, and unlock Stella Montis.

To bring Stella Montis to life, the ‘ARC Raiders‘ community will have to put their heads together to complete a two-phase global event:
Phase 1: Breaking New Ground
- Players will donate common materials to the community tunnel project.
- The necessary materials include:
- Metal Parts
- Fabric
- Plastic Parts
- Rubber Parts
- Chemicals
- When donating, players earn Merits, which is the new event currency. Players can earn up to 900 Merits, after which they can be redeemed for rewards.
- Materials donated beyond the 900 capped merits will still count toward the global progress, but will help us unlock the map quicker.
Phase 2: Staking Our Claim
- Once the player unlocks Stella Montis, Phase 2 begins, which will have a personal progression track based on our contributions.
- Potential rewards for players in this phase will include cosmetics and possibly other unlockables, although details of rewards will be revealed later.
To qualify for the event progression, players need to have participated in a minimum of five rounds. Live events will post progress live in the Live Event tab in the main menu, and players will also be able to hover over the Stella Montis node on the Rust Belt map.
How To Contribute And Earn Merits?
Participating in the event is easy:
- Collect the required materials from looting, defeating ARC enemies, or scrapping low-level gear.
- From the homescreen, go to the Live Event screen.
- Hover over the donate tab and hit the E key to donate 5 of the selected materials in bulk, with each donation earning 20 Merits.
- You will be able to view your own and the general progress through the event.

The Merits you earn will then be claimable via redeeming event rewards, and you will be able to again donate during your participation to get the community closer to unlocking Stella Montis.
