Players who are able to consistently climb the rankings generally know how the ranked system works, when they can push for an advantage against their opponents, and how to change their playstyles/matches when necessary.

These placement games are extremely important for your overall rank. If you quit out of any of these placement games it will count as a loss against your record and negatively impact your starting rank. After playing all five placement games the ranked system then provides you with a starting rank based upon your average score in each of those five placement games and will pair you with other players who have similar ratings/ranks as yourself based upon their average score.

2XKO‘ features 11 ranks, starting from Aspirant and ending at Challenger. Within the ranks of Aspirant, Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, and Master, there are Tier I, II, and III Ranks (Tier I being the most favourable and Tier III being the least), and there are no tiers for Grandmaster or Challenger.

Challenger has a very limited player base and is intended for the highest competitive ranked players on the leaderboard.

How Ranked Points (RP) Work in ‘2XKO’?

Ranked Point is the main aspect of ranking up in 2XKO.

Ranking up is entirely based on Ranked Points (RP). You can only gain RP through winning ranked matches; each tier requires earning 100 RP to move to the next tier. All additional gains can be rolled over to the next tier or rank. If you win a match by a large margin, you can skip an entire tier.

If you lose RP and go below 0 RP, you will be placed at 0 RP instead of being demoted immediately to avoid being demoted one loss after that loss.

Using Rematches to Climb Faster

Rematch format in 2XKO is essential in ranks.

The “Best of Three” rematch format is an essential mechanism for quickly climbing up the ranks in any game. The ability to mutually agree after a ranked match on 2 additional matches allows each player to capitalize on the findings of the previous match.

Once you know your opponent’s weaknesses or has defensive flaws, the ability to play immediately following the last match is a great way to take immediate advantage of those learnings. The more you can adapt to your opponent within your rematches will dramatically accelerate your ability to efficiently farm RP.

What to Focus On At Each Rank?

Bronze Tier

At this tier level, the biggest factor is consistency rather than complexity. Use your Super meter and Break, and focus on doing simple sequences reliably. A lot of people at this tier are forgetting basic resources altogether.

Silver Tier

At the Silver tier, is when players begin to use assists and when players start swapping characters to conserve their health. A significant amount of your success comes from being able to block high and low attacks at this tier level.

Gold

As players learn about matchups, they will also begin using assists on purpose and learning how to put together simple, classic combo chains. Knowing when to use each of your Supers is very important.

Platinum

While all players will continue to get better at executing their combos, maintaining calm during a match will help players win or lose. Players will be adding to their combos by using their assists for extending combos as well as changing the order of their characters. Counterplay will become increasingly important, especially with respect to using anti-air abilities, push-blocking, and parrying.

Diamond

Players will have a solid understanding of mix-ups, block strings, and converting an unusual situation into a combo. Most players will also use parries against both Super moves and projectiles and will have more successful, longer, and cleaner combo routes.

Master

Matchup knowledge and the ability to make adjustments mid-match will be what separates winners from losers. Players will have very few issues dropping combos, increasing their damage output, and the mind games between players will be more important than raw execution.

Grandmaster

Players in the Grandmaster rank range operate at the highest level. These players will regularly study the ways in which the game has changed, develop new techniques, and receive optimal combinations for all situations. Each and every game will have players consistently adapting and making high-level decisions.

Consistency will always win instead of taking chances with huge swings when playing against a good player. Matchups matter! If you know how your character plays, you’re halfway there. You also need to know what kind of gameplay your opponent is going for to stop them from doing this.

If you are confident that you can beat your opponent, you should use rematches. If you’re not confident in beating your opponent, do not rematch. Play with purpose, and take a break if you get mad. Ranked play punishes tilt more than it cares about your skill level.

Getting ranked up quickly in 2XKO is not about how many wins you get, but about how well you understand the game systems (RPs) and being able to change how you play based on what the other person is doing.

Playing well does matter, but the biggest determining factors in getting to Diamond, Master, or higher ranks are all based on knowledge, composure, and how well you use rematches. If you remain consistent in your gameplay and know what the meta is, moving up becomes easier.
